Simplified Cleanup and SPE
for Complex Biological Samples
Flexible, automation-native sample preparation
for modern biotherapeutics
Tip-on-Tip technology streamlines sample preparation workflows for a variety of applications.
What is Tip-on-Tip Cleanup or SPE?
Filtration tips can be used with sorbent chemistry for automated cleanup or dispersive solid phase extraction methods. Loose resin and sample solution are mixed in a vial or well plate via aspirate and dispense steps. After mixing, the top tip aspirates the sample + sorbent chemistry and fits into a Filtration tip. Sorbent chemistry stays trapped in the tip above the filter after dispense steps, wash and elute steps to collect the final clean sample and analyte of interest for downstream analysis.
Why do research labs and contract research organizations choose Tip-on-Tip Technology?
- Leverage proprietary sorbent chemistry in a fully automated workflow
- Accelerate characterization of complex therapeutics with high throughput workflows
- Replace magnetic bead or manual spin column methods with reliable extraction and purification from challenging, high-viscosity samples
- Optimize binding efficiency with customizable sorbent-sample interactions

How does Tip-on-Tip Cleanup work?
Just like a traditional cleanup protocol but with the power of pipette tips for automation. Sample solution and loose sorbent chemistry are mixed via aspirate and dispense steps. Interferents are bound to sorbent from mixing. Aspirate sample + sorbent solution, fit the top tip into Filtration tip, then dispense clean solution with analyte of interest. Chemistry + interferents stay trapped in the Filtration tip.

How does Tip-on-Tip SPE work?
Just like a traditional SPE protocol but with the power of pipette tips for automation. Sample solution and loose sorbent chemistry are mixed via aspirate and dispense steps. Aspirate sample + sorbent solution, fit the top tip into the Filtration Tip, then dispense into a new vial or well plate. Aspirate wash solution through Tip-on-Tip device and dispense. Aspirate elution solution through Tip-on-Tip device and dispense to collect analyte of interest.

What is the advantage of using Tip-on-Tip?
- Integrate custom or in-house sorbent directly with Filtration tips to automate cleanup and SPE methods
- Streamline sample preparation for nanoparticle formulations, antibody drug conjugates, or other advanced biologics with automated workflows
- Maintain robust performance with complex matrices such as cell lysates
- Precisely control mixing/ binding cycles and incorporate offline incubation conditions to optimize recovery and reproducibility
By combining customizable sorbent chemistry with automation-ready workflows, researchers can reduce hands-on time, improve reproducibility, and accelerate decision-making across drug development programs.
How to Order
Filtration tips are compatible with semi-automated and automated liquid handlers, including Hamilton Robotics and Integra Systems
For Tip-on-Tip, an automation vendor-specific tip fits within a Filtration tip with an air-tight seal.
